THE STUDIO / OUR POINT OF VIEW

Small by design.
Expansive by nature.

Ninth Signal is an independent game studio.
We build worlds with depth—and the tools to take them further.

Curiosity,
given structure.

Our first game, Rampart Zero, began with an enduring strategy-game pleasure: build a base, watch a plan take shape, and discover what happens when the perimeter starts to fail.

Making it has brought design, engineering, art, sound, and AI into a single evolving practice. We use coding agents and generative production tools, then put their output through explicit contracts, review, and the demands of a running game.

Independence gives us room to ask unusual questions. Can natural conversation become a useful strategy-game interface? Can that intelligence live on the player’s device? Can a small production pipeline create a convincing mechanical world?

The answers matter when they improve the experience: clearer decisions, more expressive command, and a battlefield worth returning to.

01 / DIRECTION

A clear idea comes first.

Fast tools reward precise intentions. Define the experience, the boundaries, and the evidence that will tell us whether it works.

02 / CRAFT

Connect the disciplines.

A model, a movement rule, a sound, and a line of interface copy all contribute to the same moment. Review them together.

03 / RESPONSIBILITY

Keep the player in command.

Use intelligent systems with explicit authority. Protect direct control and make both decisions and failures understandable.

THE PRACTICE, IN DETAIL

From the studio floor.

01
PROCESS / 4 MIN

Speed needs direction.

What a fast prototype can teach you—and what only months of iteration can reveal.

↗
02
ENGINEERING / 4 MIN

A voice of your own.

An intelligent command interface belongs beside the player, with a clear job and clear limits.

↗
03
ART & SYSTEMS / 4 MIN

A world is more than a mesh.

How generated geometry became an articulated, coherent, playable machine army.

↗
04
GAME DESIGN / 3 MIN

Give the player a way back.

Why repair, salvage, and field autonomy matter as much as the next explosion.
